About the course05/06/2025
In medicine, artificial ventilation encompasses a spectrum of techniques utilized to supply air or oxygen to patients who can no longer breathe adequately on their own. This practice plays a pivotal role in initial patient care for individuals in critical conditions. The Université Paris Est Créteil (UPEC) is presenting a duo of online training courses specially crafted for medical and paramedical students and professionals responsible for the care of critically ill patients.
The course goes by the name "EIVASION" (EN-Innovative Teaching of Artificial Ventilation through Simulation / FR-Enseignement Innovant de la Ventilation Artificielle par la Simulation). These training courses stand out for their innovation. To complement the concepts explored, the instructional team has devised a simulation system, an interactive multi-camera recording setup, and a serious gaming experience in which learners step into the shoes of healthcare professionals tasked with rescuing bedridden patients in need of resuscitation. These immersive techniques allow learners to confront real-life scenarios and delve into concrete clinical cases.
The first course in the series is titled « Mechanical Ventilation : the fundamentals » and serves as a foundational exploration of artificial ventilation. The primary objective is to empower professionals to make sound decisions in real-world situations by comprehending the intricacies of patient-ventilator interactions.
Consequently, the content will introduce learners to :
- Core principles of physiology and respiratory mechanics, enabling them to interpret ventilator data
- The utilization of primary ventilatory modes in invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
Upon completion of the course, learners should be able to diagnose a given situation, adopt the appropriate clinical approach and make well-informed therapeutic decisions.
Furthermore, learners will have the fantastic opportunity to attend web conferences and engage in dialogue with esteemed international ventilation experts.
The second course, Mechanical ventilation: advanced level, takes learners to the next level of expertise. Here, participants will have the opportunity to refine their understanding of patient-ventilator interactions and enhance their clinical ventilation practice.
Both courses will be available simultaneously on the FUN platform until October 2025.
